Privacy first
Your conversations stay yours.
Conversation Exporter for ChatGPT processes exports locally in your browser. The developer does not collect, receive, sell, or share your conversations or personal data.
Effective August 19, 2026
1. Scope
This policy describes how the Conversation Exporter for ChatGPT browser extension handles information when you export a conversation from ChatGPT. It applies to the Chrome and Firefox versions of the extension.
2. Information the extension handles
Conversation content
After you start an export, the extension reads the active ChatGPT conversation branch, including user-generated content, personal communications, and messages not currently visible on screen.
Authentication information
The current ChatGPT session token is used temporarily in memory to request the complete conversation from ChatGPT over HTTPS. It is never logged, stored, exported, or sent to the developer.
Export preferences
Format, filter, layout, paper-size, label, timestamp, and filename preferences are stored locally in your browser profile.
3. How information is used
Information is used only to create the file you explicitly request. Conversation content is formatted locally into PDF, Markdown, HTML, or JSON. PDF exports are passed to the browser’s Print Preview; other formats are passed to the browser’s file-saving interface.
The extension does not use conversation content or authentication information for advertising, analytics, profiling, personalization, model training, marketing, or any unrelated purpose.
4. Collection, sharing, and sale
The developer does not collect or receive user data. No conversation content, authentication information, browsing activity, or export preference is transmitted to the developer or to any third party. The extension does not sell user data and contains no advertising, analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party SDKs.
5. Storage and retention
Conversation content and the ChatGPT session token are held only as needed in browser memory during the requested export. The extension does not retain them afterward. Exported files remain wherever you choose to save them. Preferences remain in local browser storage until you restore defaults, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension.
6. Security
Requests for conversation data are made only to the supported ChatGPT HTTPS origins. All executable code is included in the extension package; the extension does not download or execute remote code.
7. Your choices
You control when an export begins, which messages are included, and where the resulting file is saved. You can cancel an export, delete exported files through your operating system, restore extension preferences to their defaults, or uninstall the extension at any time.
8. Limited Use
Conversation Exporter for ChatGPT’s use of information received through browser and website APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the extension’s disclosed conversation-export functionality.
9. Changes and contact
If the extension’s data practices change, this policy and the extension’s disclosures will be updated before the change takes effect. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@smallfixsoftware.com. For product help, contact support@smallfixsoftware.com.
